Kelli (left) reunited with her half sister.
Letter:
Dear Ash and Brit,
I wanted to take a moment to say thank you. I’m not sure if you’ll actually see this. But your podcast lead to an idea that fulfilled one of my ill fathers bucket list items.
See, I’ve always known growing up that I had a half sister somewhere. He wasn’t able to remember many of the details about what he signed when he allowed her step father to adopt her. So he lost track of her when she was 6 or 7.
All of your “Season of Justice” episodes really pushed me into trying AncestryDNA in the hopes that it would connect me with her. It absolutely did.
We connected in August and she came to Indiana to meet me for the first time, and see our father this past weekend.
The best part, in my opinion was finding out how much we had in common. One of the first things I found out about her was that she is a Crime Junkie too! She’s been listening for a few years as well.
But I’m so glad that your podcast gave me the idea that lead to finding her. I’ve been so worried that my dad wouldn’t get the chance to meet her, he’s had so many heart surgeries and has been on dialysis for a couple of years now. When covid happened, he told me that he was ready to go if he caught it, but that he would regret not seeing her again. I was able to make that happen for him, and I can’t thank you enough.
Kelli
